Bursa Malaysia opened higher on Monday as the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI gained 5.01 points to reach 1,635.88 within the first ten minutes of trade.
The 0.31 per cent advance built on the previous Friday’s close of 1,630.87, aided by softer United States payroll figures that dampened expectations of immediate monetary tightening by the Federal Reserve.
Trading across the Kuala Lumpur exchange showed broad participation in the opening hour. Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners 224 to 158, while 337 counters remained unchanged, 2,054 went untraded and 24 faced suspension.
