Corrections are dated, labelled and published on the article itself.

Corrections policy
01

Our mission

RetailNews Asia covers the business of retail across Asia-Pacific: grocery, fashion, e-commerce, malls, supply chain, retail technology and consumer finance. Our job is to explain what is changing, why it matters, and what operators, investors and policymakers should do about it.

02

Sourcing

Original reporting

Grounded in named sources, company statements, filings and on-the-record interviews wherever possible.

Aggregated coverage

Names the originating publication or wire, links to it, and adds independent context rather than copying text.

Anonymous sources

Used only when the information is in the public interest, cannot be had on the record, and has been corroborated. We say why a source is unnamed.

Data and rankings

Market sizes, financials and rankings are attributed to the analyst, government body or company that produced them.

03

Verification

Before publication, editors check that names, titles, company details, financial figures and quotes match the underlying sources. Breaking items are marked as developing and updated as facts firm up. When a claim cannot be independently verified, we say so.

04

Independence and conflicts

Editorial

Decisions are made independently of commercial and advertising relationships.

Sponsored

Commercial work is labelled "Sponsored" or "Partner content" and is not written by the newsroom.

Disclosure

Contributors declare commercial or advisory ties; where a conflict cannot be managed, the story is reassigned.

05

Use of AI

Articles on RetailNews Asia are researched, written and edited by journalists. We use AI tools for narrow support tasks: translation between English and Asian languages, transcription, summarising long public documents, metadata and image resizing. AI is never the sole author, and any factual claim produced with AI assistance is verified by an editor before publication.

06

Bylines and author profiles

Every article carries a byline. Author profiles describe the correspondent's beat and background. Where several contributors worked on a story, additional credits appear at the foot.

07

Corrections

We correct errors promptly and in public. See our corrections policy for how to report an issue and how each change is labelled.

08

Contact the newsroom

Story tips, feedback and formal complaints reach the editorial desk through our contact page. We aim to acknowledge editorial complaints within two working days.
