Polène, a renowned French luxury leather goods company, has recently inaugurated its pioneer boutique in Singapore, situated within the Marina Bay Sands. The store, featuring a design area of 84 square meters, was conceived by Marina Bay Sands’ famed architect, Moshe Safdie. The design concept of the new store is inspired by traditional fishing dwellings, with a unique canopy made from suspended leather panels that distribute light evenly across the store.
Polène revealed that each panel in the store is meticulously handwoven from premium, full-grain Italian leather. The striking walnut finishes, coupled with the clean architectural lines, contribute to a richly tactile and welcoming retail atmosphere.
The boutique further showcases an intriguing installation titled “Craft at Work – A Puzzle of Leather.” This interactive installation provides customers with an intimate understanding of the construction process behind the brand’s esteemed products.
An innovative machine, developed specifically for the Singapore boutique, is part of this installation. With this, visitors can observe the detailed precision involved in cutting the 36 individual leather pieces that comprise the Mokki bag. Following this, the pieces are assembled by skilled artisans in Ubrique, Spain.
This Singapore boutique emerges in the wake of Polène’s recent expansion across other international markets, such as China, the US, Japan, and South Korea.
