Staff sought for Taiwan Apple Store

US technology giant Apple has started advertising for staff for a Taiwan Apple Store.

This follows the US technology giant raising US$1.38 billion in a bond offering last month on the island that is home to many companies in its supply chain.

While Apple has confirmed plans to open its first store in Taiwan, the California-based company is tight-lipped on details. However, job postings on its website show it is seeking “a leader for personnel training plans for the Taiwan Apple Store” as well as other retail positions.

Apple’s greater China revenue, which includes Hong Kong and Taiwan, slumped 26 per cent in its second fiscal quarter, with executives pointing the finger at Hong Kong for slipping sales. This year, its iPhones had their first-ever sales decline in the face of intense competition in the smartphone market.
